Curcumin in Hepatitis A Reduces Liver inflammation & improves Liver health
Liver is a large meaty organ lying on the right side of your abdomen. Its job is to filter the blood coming out of your digestive tract before it passes to the rest of the body. Hepatitis A is an infection of the liver with the HAV and is the most common type of infection. Well-known super spice turmeric lowers the risk of this infection due to its active ingredient curcumin. Curcumin in Hepatitis A acts both as preventive and restorative agent for the liver. Studies show that turmeric’s polyphenol, Curcumin in Hepatitis A is helpful for reducing the risk of infection as curcumin is a natural anti-bacterial and anti-viral compound. Curcumin in Hepatitis A also works to reduce inflammation which in turn decreases the instances of severe infection leading to fatal conditions. You must include turmeric in your daily intake to reduce oxidative stress in liver cells by using the effects of Curcumin in Hepatitis A.
Key Facts about Hepatitis A:
Hepatitis A is a viral infection of the liver ranging from moderate to severe illness.
It is caused by Hepatitis A Virus (HAV) which can be transmitted through contaminated food or water or through direct contact with an infectious person.
Hepatitis A is the most prevalent type of liver infection.
Once infected with HAV, gives you lifelong immunity.
Poor living standards such as lack of safe water and poor sanitation and hygiene give rise to incidences of Hepatitis A.
Thankfully, a safe and effective vaccine is available for Hepatitis A.
What & How?
The term hepatitis means inflammation of the liver, a football-sized organ, very important for digestion, nutrient absorption and toxic elimination. Hepatitis can sometimes be self-limiting or can lead to scarring of the liver, cirrhosis or even liver cancer. Hepatitis A virus is found to be present in stool of the infected person and is usually transmitted through consumption of contaminated food or water. Some kind of sexual practices can also lead to transmission of hepatitis A.
Most of the times, patients develop mild infection which resolves on its own and the patient becomes immune to further hepatitis A infections nevertheless hepatitis A infection can turn out to be life threatening as well. Vaccinations are available for prevention of hepatitis A.
Severe diabetics often suffer liver damage and disease over the time if blood glucose level is not controlled properly. Research indicates that turmeric may be able to help as Curcumin in Hepatitis A exhibits effects on controlling and lowering blood glucose level and thus reducing the risks of liver damage.
Know the Signs and Symptoms of Hepatitis A
Symptoms are mostly noticed two to six weeks after being exposed to the virus. Usually mild, symptoms can last up to several months and include the following:
Abdominal pain/discomfort especially in the area of liver that is below the right lower ribs.
Low grade fever.
Nausea and vomiting.
Loss of appetite.
Tiredness and fatigue.
Pale or clay colored stools.
Yellow skin and eyes typical of jaundice.
How It is Caused?
The hepatitis A virus which causes the infection is generally transmitted through ingestion of food contaminated with fecal matter. Upon entering the body, the virus infects liver cells and results in inflammation. This inflammation hinders normal functioning of the liver resulting in obvious signs and symptoms of hepatitis A.
The hepatitis A virus is usually transmitted in following ways:
Ingestion of food handled by someone who is infected and did not wash hands after using toilet.
Drinking of contaminated water.
Having sexual contact with infected person.
Eating raw fish from water contaminated with sewage.
Being in close contact with someone who is infected. Also, it is important to know that this someone may or may not be showing signs and symptoms of infection.
Risk Factors Related To Hepatitis A
The following people are considered at increased risk of hepatitis A:
Travelling or working in areas with high incidences of hepatitis A.
Lack of safe water and poor sanitation.
Living with another person infected with hepatitis A.
HIV positive patients.
Usage of syringes for illicit/illegal drug abuse.
Blood clotting related problems.
Men who have sexual relation with other men.
Complications Occurring From Hepatitis A
Though hepatitis A does not cause long term liver damage but in several extreme cases, hepatitis A can lead to liver failure.
Role of Curcumin in Hepatitis A:
When your liver is working well, it cleans the blood, helps digest food and takes part in immunity to fight infection. It is also a bit of a bodily superhero – Liver has the power to regenerate when it has been damaged, replacing old tissue with new cells. But for this action, liver requires healthy cells and freedom from any kind of infection.
Turmeric containing curcumin has long been used in different preparations for liver health. Studies suggests that Curcumin in Hepatitis A protects liver from damage and supports cell regeneration.
Curcumin in Hepatitis A works as a potent and fast effective anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, anti-oxidant and immunomodulatory following oral or topical administration.
Curcumin in Hepatitis A fights against the HAV and other associated factors leading to enhanced protection against liver damage in Hepatitis and further deterioration of liver function. Curcumin in Hepatitis A also multifold its function improves gallbladder health and functioning.
However, Curcumin in Hepatitis A fails to exert 100% of its therapeutic effect due to:
Less permeability and extensive systemic metabolism
Need to be combined with additional compounds to improve absorption
Turmeric root contains only about 1-3% of Curcumin
Non-standardized powdered turmeric root entails intake of large dose in order to derive any benefit
Hence, to modulate the issues with common turmeric/curcumin, a novel formulation, SNEC 30 (Self-nano emulsifying curcumin capsule 30 mg) has been developed. SNEC 30 is the latest generation of scientifically formulated bioactive co-developed by Arbro Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd, DRDO (Defense Research & Development Organization), and Jamia Hamdard University in collaboration with DST (Department of Science & Technology, GOI). There is US Patent for the technology used in SNEC 30.
SNEC 30 uses Self Nano-Emulsifying Drug Delivery System (SNEDDS) which makes the properties of Curcumin to multifold. The technology helps curcumin to achieve maximum concentration in blood (Cmax) several times more compared to its’ closest rival. Self nano-emulsifying curcumin used in SNEC 30 acts fast with lower doses without causing any adverse effects.
Highlights of SNEC 30
SNEDDS improves absorption of Curcumin increasing Bioavailability and fast action
Self Nano Emulsifying Drug Delivery System (SNEDDS) helps curcumin to reach blood in less time to exert its action much better than its’ closest rival. SNEC 30 forms a stable nano emulsion in stomach and bypasses the metabolism by liver thus increases blood content of curcumin. Curcumin in SNEC 30 directly reaches into systemic blood through lymphatic system providing the basis for highest concentration at a very low dose.
SNEC 30 has “NO Side Effects”
SNEC 30 works in a synchronized fashion working on cellular membranes to organize them more orderly. This not only improves the resistance of cells against infection and malignancy as well as works on various receptors to control inflammation and pain without causing any adverse effects.
SNEC 30 is a Superior Anti-Oxidant
SNEC 30, due to its unique US patented formulation, neutralizes free radicals which makes it the best anti-oxidant. Its immunomodulatory action strengthens body’s immunity to fight against most microbial infections.
SNEC 30 is an Excellent Anti-Microbial Agent
Microbial infections in Liver are common which can lead to fatal conditions if not treated timely and accurately. SNEC 30 exerts anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties for a wide range of topical bacterial and viral infections and thus lowers the risk of liver infection.
SNEC 30 for Hepatitis A
SNEC 30 Acts As A Hepato-Protective Agent:
SNEC 30 works as a liver protective agent as Curcumin in Hepatitis A protects the liver from toxicity and diseases and ensures its proper functioning. SNEC 30 acts in the following ways to be considered a Hepato-protective agent:
It reduces accumulation of fat in liver cells.
Protects liver from drug toxicity and age related changes due to anti-oxidant properties.
Anti-inflammatory property protects from liver inflammation.
SNEC 30 prevents the activation of nuclear factor-kB and production of pro-inflammatory chemicals and reduces inflammation in Hepatitis A.
Stops Progression of Liver Damage:
Due to infection by HAV, liver cells are compromised by inflammation which gives rise to oxidative stress leading to damage to liver cells. Oxidative stress is the most important biomarker of liver diseases. Chemically reactive species called reactive oxygen species cause tissue damage and cell death.
SNEC 30’s anti-oxidant activity is very strong as Curcumin in Hepatitis A acts by:
Increasing anti-oxidant enzymes in liver
Scavenging reactive oxygen species (ROS)
Curcumin prevents lipid peroxidation in which essential fats of cells are oxidized leading to cell death.
SNEC 30 Prevents Multiplication and Growth of Hepatitis A Virus:
SNEC 30 is superior anti-viral agent that stops Hepatitis A Virus replication by reducing viral RNA expression, protein synthesis and virus titer. SNEC 30 also enhances body’s immune system and enables you fight against infections.
Lowers the Risk of Drug Induced Hepatitis:
Some over-the-counter drugs such as Paracetamol has been proven to be toxic for liver and kidney in case of overdose. In laboratory study, excess Paracetamol administration was found to decrease the anti-oxidant activity of liver cells.
SNEC 30 exhibits potent anti-oxidant activity that restores liver cell functionality and improves overall health.
Dosage and Safety
SNEC 30 is completely safe even at very high doses but ideal dose should be customized according to individual body requirement. Trials generally report very few, if any, adverse effects of SNEC 30 even at very high dose. There have been no reports of toxicity following even large amount of turmeric ingestion.
